  • The Web Design & Development Process

There's a straight forward process when working with me. We have a chat to find out a bit about you, agree on a design, and carry out development. But what else is involved? Have a more detailed look at the web design process below:

    Step 1: Discovery

At the first stage of the web design process, I need to understand a bit about you or your company and what you look for in a website. Once we have a basic understanding of what you want I can put my own input into the design and agree on the terms to specify your needs and other details.

    Step 2: Design

This is the part of the process where we will start by agreeing on a wireframe design which shows a basic layout structure of a page without images or text; instead boxes are used to indicate where main components are located such as images, content, logo and links. We can then move on to do a more detailed design in Photoshop starting off with a mock-up that is agreed on and then working into it. There will be a number revisions available until you are satisfied with the final product ready to be coded and developed.

    Step 3: Devlopment

At the final stage I carefully develop the agreed design either as static pages or as a theme for a content management system. I make sure components are efficiently coded so your website can reach its full potential. I test all aspects of the site including links, pixel perfect cross browser compatibility, speed, accessibility and other standards. Once everyone is satisfied we exchange feedback and sum up the project.

    Why Chose a Freelancer?

When it comes to web design, it's not all about qualifications. To be a good web designer you need creativity and experience. Most freelancers do what they do because they are self-motivated and are interested, so you are more likely to get better results at an attractive price.

Why Might I Need a Website?

A website is affordable and doesn't require much to maintain. A short link you can provide to customers that can be used to showcase work, products and services. An essential medium for your customers to get to understand what you do and how you can benefit them. It keeps them updated without hassle and it can easy to be managed by anyone with the right authorisation, they are secure and they reflect your brand image. Websites can automate many day-to-day tasks and highly increase the efficiency of your business.

What Are Your Charges Like and How Do I Pay?

The charges are not fixed because there are so many factors that can alter the price like the features being used, the number of pages required, the complexity of the website etc. It could even be a small coding project that can be completed within an hour. So to request a quote contact me via the contact page with as much information as you can provide and I will get back to you soon after with details and the price we'd be looking at. Payment is made at the end of the project just before I release the hosting login details via email. Accepted payment methods include PayPal, cheque, and bank transfer.

How Long Will It Take To Make My Website?

Again, this depends on the complexity of the project. However, typical completion time for a full website is around 4 - 5 weeks. I work out of my working hours, usually between 8 pm - 11 pm (GMT+0) on weekdays and all day on weekends. Smaller projects can be completed in a couple of days. Have a look at the How It Works tab to see our approach to creating your website to get an idea of how it's done. However, if the project is urgent, we can arrange to set out a timetable and deadlines.

How Will I Be Kept Updated On What's Going On?

As I progress on your website design, I take notes down and send regular emails to let you know where were standing and what still needs to be completed, usually every 2 or 3 days. Or if it's a smaller project, you will receive updates every couple of hours. You can also call me anytime out of work hours and I will explain where we are.

Will My Website Look The Same In All Browsers

This is a standard that we carry out by checking and altering the website for optimum efficiency in all major browsers. Though we recommend Mozilla Firefox to all our users as it is the fastest, most popular and efficient web browser available at the moment. Browsers like Internet Explorer and Safari are always checked with your website as they are standard browsers that come equipped with Windows and Mac. So everyone enjoys the experience.
